Amica Mutual property claims: documentation the desk adjuster can approve

Whether you're the contractor writing the estimate or the homeowner living with the damage, a Amica Mutual claim moves on paperwork. Here is how Amica Mutual says its process works, taken from its own site, and how we prepare estimates and supplements for it.

Filing and tracking a Amica Mutual home claim

  • On Amica.com, in the Amica mobile app, by chatting with the Amica Virtual Assistant (AVA), or over the phone [source]
  • Online in the Amica Claim Center: customers log in to their account to report an auto or home claim; non-customers can report a claim they have with an Amica customer without an account [source]

Tracking and sending documents

Logged-in customers track a claim in the Amica Claim Center. [source]

Photos and documents are uploaded through the Amica.com account or the mobile app, up to 10 items at a time with categories and descriptions; the claim handler is automatically notified of new uploads. Non-customers, contractors and other relevant parties can upload on Amica.com using the claim number and the policyholder's last name. [source]

Send your estimate or supplement through the channel Amica Mutual names above, and keep the upload confirmation with the claim file.

What Amica Mutual publishes about contractors and additional damage

Home Repair Assistance Program (Contractor Connection)

Amica says it has partnered with Contractor Connection to provide more than 2,000 professionally credentialed emergency service and restoration contractors. Contractors go through a credentialing process (licensed, insured, financially stable); Amica representatives work directly with the contractor to reach an agreed price for the repairs on the claim; Amica oversees issue resolution; and contractors stand behind their work with a limited workmanship warranty (excluding wear and tear). [source]

Network membership is Amica Mutual's decision, not ours. Our estimates and supplements are prepared for any contractor on the claim, in or out of the network.

Additional damage and supplements

If additional damage is discovered or costs exceed the adjuster's estimate, notify Amica immediately before the additional damage is repaired; Amica may need to inspect the additional damage to assess it and estimate the repair cost, and may issue a supplemental payment. [source]

Inspection: Amica assigns an adjuster to assess the damage and write an estimate for the visible damage; depending on the loss this takes place in person or virtually. If additional damage is found during repairs, contact the claim handler. [source]

Homeowner Photo Tool: after the claim is filed, Amica emails a unique link to the claim's photo-upload portal; up to 10 photos at a time with optional descriptions go directly to the claim handler, and in some cases the photos let Amica assess the damage virtually without an in-person inspection. [source]

Payment: after completing its estimate, Amica may issue payment less the applicable deductible, and a payment for loss-related supplemental damage may also be issued. Payment can be made by Venmo, PayPal, EFT or paper check; for a digital payment, an email from OneInc@amica.com lets the policyholder choose the method. [source]

Repairs: Amica asks the policyholder to obtain an estimate from a contractor, and depending on the extent of the damage an adjuster may also inspect. The policyholder is always welcome to choose their own contractor; the Contractor Connection program has limited availability and is not offered in all locations. [source]

Text and email claim notifications are enabled from the Amica.com account or the mobile app; text enrollment covers all past, current and future claims until opt-out, and email enrollment is per claim. [source]

We prepare documentation for the contractor or the homeowner, never for the insurer. We do not give coverage, claim-value or legal advice, and we do not represent policyholders.
