Farmers property claims: documentation the desk adjuster can approve
Whether you're the contractor writing the estimate or the homeowner living with the damage, a Farmers claim moves on paperwork. Here is how Farmers says its process works, taken from its own site, and how we prepare estimates and supplements for it.

Tracking and sending documents
The online claim portal shows status, payments, claim letters and the selected repair contractor. [source]
Receipts and documents can be uploaded to the claim portal around the clock, with or without logging in. [source]
Send your estimate or supplement through the channel Farmers names above, and keep the upload confirmation with the claim file.
What Farmers publishes about contractors and additional damage
Additional damage and supplements
Farmers's public site does not describe a supplement submission process. In practice the supplement goes to the assigned claim handler through the same document channel as the claim; we write it so the handler can approve it line by line.
Farmers says it tries to handle most claims remotely through photos, mobile apps and drones, though on-site inspection is sometimes necessary. [source]
Farmers can pay the contractor directly and offers a service-provider search tool. [source]
How we prepare documentation for a Farmers claim
Estimates
Flat price by job size, written in Xactimate® by an experienced estimator from your photos, sketch and drying records. Your first estimate is free. Pricing
Supplements
Every missed or under-quantified line item, each with a written justification, plus a cover letter addressed to Farmers. Priced on the approved increase. How supplements work
Negotiation add-on
Our estimating team follows up with the Farmers adjuster on the estimate or supplement they wrote. Added at checkout.
We prepare documentation for the contractor or the homeowner, never for the insurer. We do not give coverage, claim-value or legal advice, and we do not represent policyholders.
